Gone Wild Washcloth & Mini Messenger Bag

Introduction
Even tough big boys need some special attention when they become big brothers. Put some bath crayons in a bag just for him, toss in a washcloth, and bath time will be a celebration of big brotherhood!
Materials List
Gone Wild Washcloth

Lily Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn (2½ oz/70g per 120yd/109m), one ball each of (A) Red, (B) Bright Navy, (C) Yellow, and (D) Dark Pine, or colors of your choice
- Size H (5.00 mm) hook
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
Mini Messenger Bag
- Lily Sugar’n Cream (2 ½ oz/70 g per 120 yd/109 m), one ball of Dark Pine
- Size H (5.00 mm)
- Stitch marker (optional)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Optional Velcro or button for closure
Finished Size
One size.

The bag body is made in a spiral. If you would like, mark the first stitch of the row with a stitch marker to keep track of your row counts.
The Pattern
Begin Washcloth
With A, ch 30
Row 1: sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each st across (29 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across, change to color B on last st
Row 3: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across, change to color C on last st
Row 4: ch 3, turn. dc in each st across, change to color D on last st
Row 5: ch 3, turn. dc in each st across
Row 6: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across, change to color B on last st
Row 7: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across, change to color A on last st
Row 8: ch 3, turn. dc in each st across, change to color C on last st
Row 9: ch 3, turn. dc in each st across, change to color B on last st
Row 10: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across
Row 11: ch 3, turn. dc in each st across, change to color D on last st
Row 12: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across, change to color A on last st
Row 13: ch 1, turn. sc in each st across
Row 14: ch 3, turn. dc in each st across, change to color C on last st

Fringe
Using the ends from the color changes, attach fringe as follows:
Red end – use one strand each of blue, green, and yellow
Blue end – use one strand each of red, green, and yellow
Yellow end – use one strand each of red, blue, and green
Green end – use one strand each of red, blue, and yellow
Place fringe evenly across the sides of the dishcloth. The length that you cut initially for the fringe doesn't really matter. Trim to approximately 3” after all fringe has been attached.
Begin Messenger Bag
Ch 16
Round 1: 3 sc into 2nd chain from hook, sc in next 13 ch, 3 sc in last chain; working in back ridges of sts, sc across. (32 sc)
Round 2: sc around
Rounds 3-12: Repeat Row 2
Row 13: ch 1, turn. sc in next 16 sc.
Row 14: ch 1, turn, sc across.
Row 15-23: Repeat Row 14
Row 24: ch 1, turn. sc2tog, sc in next 12 sc, sc2tog. Fasten off.
Strap
Row 1: Join yarn in same space as first sc of flap, sc in same space, sc in next 2 sc
Row 2: ch 1, turn. sc in next 3 sc, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until strap measures about 16” (or length of your choice); join to the appropriate stitches on the opposite side of bag (strap stitch + 2 sc). Fasten off and weave in ends.
Optional: Sew small button to front or attach Velcro to secure flap. Load with crayons or other goodie of your choice.
