I'm back from a whirlwind trip to Detroit. I think I spent more time flying than I did in the Motor City, but I loved every second of it from feverishly crocheting step-outs on my flights getting there (my hands were like claws by the time I arrived), to hanging out with awesome crochet peeps on my day of taping, to reading a good book and sleeping on my flights home.
We were taping segments for the fall PBS show Knit & Crochet Today, hosted by One Life To Live star and crocheter Kassie DePaiva. I got to chill with Robyn Chachula, who did a whole segment on the Crystal Lace Bolero (Kassie's wearing it in this photo) – way cool! (Robyn blogged a ton about the show and about the lovely inn where we stayed; go have a read.)
We also hung out with Brett Bara, Lily Chin, and the show's producer: the crochet queen herself, Candi Jensen. I've got a few more photos up on Flickr. And I spent a lovely evening with Kristin Omdahl, who took me to the best restaurant ever. Mmm, portabello mushroom burger.
I'm holing up for the rest of the weekend to finish up the Crochet Me book. I love this book. Love it love it love it. My deadline is looming and I'm not even freaked out about it because I love the designs so much the writing is easy and fun. Plus, I'm writing about stuff I've wanted to write about for a long time. Yum yum.
