TNNA is a wrap! This trade show—The National NeedleArts Association—meets semiannually to showcase new yarns and trends in the yarn industry. Lisa Shroyer, editor of Interweave Knits, blogged about some trends on our sister site Knitting Daily. (Neon and fur were in nearly every yarn booth! For cool hats to to crochet with neon, check out the Flash Hats in the 2012 issue of Interweave Crochet Accessories.)
My little pink Moleskine is bursting with new information and products, which we'll share over the next couple of issues of Interweave Crochet and in this blog. But here's a thing that just can't wait!
The folks over at Westminster are having a hat contest featuring Schachenmayr yarn. The My Mountain program embraces the active outdoor lifestyle and celebrates it with hats that express the wearer's exuberance. And they're looking for more designs! Crocheters of all levels should take a look and work up a happy design! The contest runs through August 30.
You'll find all the detes on the My Mountain Facebook page, including a starter pattern if you're feeling shy. There are some nifty prizes (iPad mini! And everyone who enters will receive a T-shirt). You don't even have to write up the pattern until they let you know if you're a semifinalist! Just send a photo of your finished hat to linda.pratt (at) westerminsterfibers (dot) com. They'll also be featuring some of the hats on their Facebook page as the hats come in—good way to get some buzz for your design skillz!
So go find a shade tree or crank up the AC and get going!
