Things You Can Make in the Time it Takes to Bake a Turkey

		It's Thanksgiving Day already! If that felt like a bucket of ice water rushing over you, join the club. There are still all those holiday gifts to be made. While hoards of shoppers storm the gates of stores across the country this weekend, I'll be stitching as fast as I can to finish off my holiday list. Now is the time to think big—and small. That is, small gifts made with big yarn! I know you don't have a lot of time today, so I'll keep this brief.

		Step 1: Get out the biggest, chunkiest yarn you can find. Bulky, super bulky, roving. Anything above a 4 on the Craft Yarn Council scale (check your yarn label for the number). Step 2: Grab a really big hook! I used an 11.5 mm one, but anything over an 8 or 9 mm should do.

		Step 3: Crochet some basic shapes. Rectangle? Neckwarmer! Add some densely placed increases in the last row for a cute ruffle, then whipstitch up the back. I did mine in Tunisian simple stitch for extra speed and warmth, but use whatever stitch you like best (or can work fastest). Circle? Hat! Perfect for my mother-in-law! Tube? Wrist-warmers! Even better with more ruffles.

Voila! Three more people taken care of in under two hours. You have 696 hours to go till Christmas. Good luck, and remember to stretch your hands and wrists at least once an hour.
