I love crochet
flowers! They're so quick to create—all but the most complex can be
completed in less than an hour. These pretty projects present a
brilliant opportunity to use up the last little bits of leftover
yarn—such as the final yards of that luxury silk you just can't toss.
And a crocheted flower can transform a garment or accessory from
ordinary to a fashion statement.
A couple of evenings ago, I whipped up the Anemone motif from the Harmony Guides: Crochet Stitch Motifs
and attached it to a purchased knit hat I've owned for about three
years. The easy flower motif added a new, stylish touch to my old hat.
Now I'm on a roll. I'm already pouring through the Harmony Guide looking for my next embellishment. Here are a couple more embellishment projects inspired by the Harmony Guides.

I
adore denim skirts! As the long winter began to transition into
Spring last year, I decided to transform my favorite jean skirt with
bright shades of cotton thread.
The flowers and leaves, also from the Harmony Guides,
were finished in just a few hours, blocked, and left to dry overnight. I
find crochet's ability to transform an off-the-rack garment into a
one-of-a-kind creation irresistible. Now I'm looking through my closet
for which skirt, pair of jeans, or shirt to adorn this year. |

A few months ago, Sarah crocheted the multi-colored flower from the Hannah and Hallie Play Sets in the Spring 2011 issue of Interweave Crochet
and fastened it to a baby hat to "add a little extra pizzaz to an
otherwise plain bonnet." The finished baby hat was anything but plain,
and the new mother was delighted.
