I have tried to start the afghan stitch many times, but it never looked correct. The instructions you gave in this posting helped me to understand what I was doing incorrectly. Thank you for getting me started.

I look forward to your next posting on more of the basic Tunisian crochet stitches. I am eager to make a blanket as dense as those afghans made with this stitch. They add hold in warmth but add extra warmth when one is in a very cold room.

If not, do an increase or decrease to get an even number of stitches. I do at least two rows. Chain 2 from your ending stitch. FPdc in the stitch below on the left. BPdc In the next stitch. Continue around alternating the stitches. The last stitch should end with a BPdc. End row by a slip stitch in the top of the chain two. Repeat again until you get the desired length. This also makes for a more snug fit.

In my adult life I taught myself how to read patterns and charts. I taught myself to knit. I also dabble in Pyrography (woodburning), and have made enough items to give to everyone in my family and also my friends. I taught my Mom how to work plastic canvas. I have recently gotten into beading and jewelry making. I have also finally gotten the strokes right in painting flowers..especially roses. I have ADD and have a hard time sitting down to the tv.. but give me a hook and some yarn and off I go... I now have 3 grandkids of my own and they all show an interest in learning crochet and some of the other crafts I work on. I am eager to pass this knowledge on to their generation.

I was very excited and then EXTREMELY disappointed. I don't do Apple. But I really wanted this on my Droid. The Droid market is quite large at this point and the fiber arts really should jump on the band wagon. Also I am a Kindle user and luckily we are sometimes able to get publications on there. I LOVE patterns and I am running out of space so I would love to be able to keep some of my collection digital. Please don't forget this of us who can't afford to do the Apple thing!
