Did you see it? What do you think?
Yes- I did get to catch the show. And maybe its me- but Lily Chin doesn't seem like a great person to host the show. She is an amazing fiber designer- that's for sure. She just doesn't make me want to watch her. But like I said- maybe its me.
I liked that they highlighted the projects from knit.1, by talking about how they are crafted and what their design choices were for the mag. I just wish they put up almost like a shopping list (like you see on the food shows) for the projects.
that's my 2 cents. How about everyone else?
I've gone and blurted my opinion on my blog. In short, the show has potential to be something interesting and inspiring.
I intend to keep watching. I don't want to build my expectations on just one episode. Lily doesn't look completely comfortable in front of the camera and the editing is a little jarring for me (it's like watching two different shows as they switch between the "documentary" and "soundstage" footage), but it's just the first episode, and TV is magic (and magic is hard). It felt a little like a big advert for knit.1 and Vogue, and I don't know if this episode will age well, as it's based on patterns offered in specific issues. I've read elsewhere that the knit.1 people were really surprised when viewers went to the website and couldn't find the patterns...because knit.1 hadn't planned to offer them for free online, and there's a line at the end of the episode which could be interpreted as saying that you can get the patterns on the website. I'm looking forward to seeing what gets covered in upcoming episodes.
boohoo - no cable... i'll have to get the scoop from everyone else :(
I actually enjoyed the show. It was fascinating to see the process the various designers go through to create their fashions, processes one can certainly apply to crochet. I also thought the woman who talked about the knitting projects (not Lily, the other woman) was very relaxed; she made knitting those complicated-looking projects sound easy. Yes, Lily was a little stiff, but I've taken crochet classes from her and she's exuberant and relaxed in the classroom. So maybe she just needs some time to feel more relaxed in front of the camera. In any event, I'd like to see more shows and hopefully they'll do one on CROCHET since the title is StitchCraft and not KnittingCraft. Wasn't that a crocheted dress Lily was wearing??
I was disappointed. I had the opportunity to take one of Lily's classes and really enjoyed her "energy". The show was more of an index of the magazine than anything else and I have the magazine.
