Angrily Yours & More

Sep 11, 2006

I received my first piece of hate snail mail last week. A reader was very angry with me because she didn't see the “printer friendly version” link and printed out an unusable version of a pattern. In her mind, I'm responsible for her waste of paper and ink. I'm blogging about this to remind you, dear readers, to read a web page before printing it. You might just see a printer-friendly link on there. I disclaim any perceived responsibility for how you choose to use your printer ink and paper. Though, as a world citizen, I do encourage you to turn any mis-printed paper over and feed it back through your printer to print a better version on the opposite side. Reuse reuse reuse. And if you can't reuse, recycle or repurpose. And also, if you're very concerned about the cost of wasting ink and paper, I encourage you to email me your hate mail, to save an envelope and 69 cents (USD) postage. If you want to send fan mail, however, maybe with a pretty postcard or something, that's totally worth 69 cents in my mind...

Julie's posted a pretty preview of a design by Amy O'Neill Houck from the upcoming fall issue. And yes, she does mention a crochet-along... Anyone out there who's hankering for a new favourite sweater, warm up your hooks.

Kristin Omdahl has listed an eBay auction for a kit for her fab Swirl cardigan. Yum!

When my right hand is misaligned on the keyboard, my name comes out as “Lo,”. I think that's cool. I'm not sure why.

This made me smile. It takes such little effort and it wastes nothing, just to be kind. You know?

Wow. I just realized that I could spend my evenings this coming winter writing to various webmasters claiming reimbursement for my printing mistakes.

Or I could spend them crocheting instead.

I know, yo. I mean, don't get me wrong. It's also good to have an outlet for frustration and anger. Especially if, you know, it's well-placed.

Ha!

I really do get quite a bit of *constructive* criticism about this site - be it about its design or content. I really appreciate it, even if I don't act on it.

I get nostalgic for old-fashioned pen and paper letters...but not that kind of letter.

Some people really have too much time on their hands but some just choose to spend their time and energy complaining about minor issues instead of dealing with their "to do" list. So don't be jealous; boredom and avoidance are not admirable character traits. We all should have learned in kindergarten "not to sweat the small stuff"!

Moms always have the best way of putting stuff, ya know?

So, Mom. Are you implying that my writing of this post was a misuse of my time? Cuz I'm getting real work done today. Really!

(Hee.)

I'd rather have that than the emails I get from people asking me when I'm going to send them (via snail mail) the free *online* videos. I kid you not. I get those emails. Or how about the ol, "How do I see the videos? I'm on the site now. Do I just click on the video?" Seriously. So I can relate to getting weird emails from people who haven't completely thought out their question, or taken a moment to solve it for themselves. There will always be one..

I hope she turned over her mis-printed paper to send you hate mail without wasting clean stationary! Maybe she just likes oxymorons.

I'm so excited about the crochet-along!!

Me imply? I have never been known to be subtle! It is a universal fact that no female can work to meet a deadline if, on that very day, her legs have not been shaved, her nails polished, her brows tweezed, etc. And you and I both fit that mold!

[teenager whine]Moooooom![/teenager whine] Now you've told the whole internet my very private, personal secrets! You're ruining my life!

Ah, but seriously. Believe it or not, I actually procrastinated yesterday by doing other work. Crazy, eh? So today, where I haven't gotten as far on some things as I'd wanted, I've totally completed things I hadn't planned on starting till later on in the week. This is a weird, possessed, sort of totally foreign kind of procrastination for me.

Really, my legs could do with a good shaving... (My fingers look great after my pre-photo-shoot manicure from Friday.)

Well Some people really have nothing better to do than sit around and try to blame everyone but themselves for their mistakes. Well my opinion on this is that maybe she need to learn how copy cut and paste works so she can make her own printer friendly copy.

Love your stuff, Kim! Keep up the good work!!
