Oh fun! I want to make a Humphrey even though book tours never make it here to South Carolina. At least he could hang out online at the Flickr party

Thanks, ET! I didn't write down exactly what I did to make Humphrey's hat. I started with the ribbed band, worked in rows. Then I joined the band along the short edges to make a circle, and picked up stitches along one side to work up to the point of the hat. I used Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece yarn.
