My Newly Organized Office

My Office

Originally uploaded by kpwerker.

After this past weekend's home improvement whirlwind, I'm more organized at work than I have been in months, possibly ever. I've got it so together I even charged my camera batteries, as promised, so I can share. Assuming you're interested. Click the photo for notes and labels. And if you're really interested, here's a close-up with a lot of notes and labels.

It feels great to love my workspace again. And that's a good thing, because it's finally sunny and I have to spend the day working inside. And I have so much work to do in the next couple of weeks that I'd better love the space I'm doing it in. I gotta say, when these book deadlines have passed (oh, how I dream of mid-February), I will relish the more consistent workload of the magazines.

Man, I feel out of touch. Say hello and let me know what's up with you!

Your office looks fantastic...you do have SOME of my genes!

Please, crochetmeMom, could you send me some genes by e-mail?

I really need to clean and organize... My mother taught me crochet (thank you, thank you Mom!), but not order!

Ha! Notice I only took these photos from one angle. Off to the right is a totally cluttered table and a pair of not-terribly-orderly bookshelves. As she said, I got *some* of my mom's genes, and the rest from my dad - who once lost his telephone on his own desk and had to ask a friend to call the house so he could find it.

Where did you get the wonderful (white) square cubbies? I want some to store my stash. (YMN this month was telepathic) And the capacious white table?

IKEA, baby. Both of 'em.

I am the same way- can't get anything done if my space is not organized.

You need a couple cheerful plants in there! Some crocheted items to give inpiration and color! We all need to do what we can to stay cheerful in the winter.

Doing good over here but not looking forward to the frigid temperatures for the next couple days. Oh well.

Mmm. Plants. Good point.

Stay warm!

Annette,

The trick is to put things in their place at the end of each work day. During the day - or time during which you use the space - you can be cluttered with all your needed materials for the multiple tasks in progress. Before shutting the lights for the day, sort and put it all away. In this manner, you will not end up avoiding the horrible task of a huge cleaning.

Now ask me if any member of my family has ever - even once - taken my advice...My writing genes and definitely my chutzpah genes must be far more dominant than are my organizational genes!

Whereas I'm all about the foot stool. I totally need one of those for my office. Well. My office-office as opposed to my kitchen-office where the new woodstove is. I love that your desk faces out into the room. Looking at a wall can get too claustrophobic for me.

Organization? What's that? Nah, just kidding. It's all about staying one step ahead of the fray for me.

Hey, you received the hat pat. stuff correct? I figured if I didn't hear from you, all was well.
