I Blushed

Feb 11, 2007

Last night at a dinner party I met my friend's sister for the first time. An hour later she leaned forward after talking to my friend and said, “You're the Crochet Me lady?” Oh, dear.

Yes, yes I am.

Also, I was a bit beside myself.

I got over it and had, perhaps, the most laughter-infused night I've had in recent memory. My abs hurt. I like making new friends.

My mother persists in telling every school librarian she meets (she's out and about in schools all over the state every day for work) about my books. And then she reports back. It's a strange combo of "awwww, MOM! cut it out!" and "Mom: Your Best PR Resource."

This reminds me of that scene in the film Notting Hill where Hugh Grant's characer's friend realises that Julia Roberts' character is a movie star!

BTW, sorry this is off topic but the forum is down: Is it true Canada has better softer wool than the USA? My friend and I were thinking of a Canadian road trip of yarn stores as we are in Seattle and tired of the scratchy wool.

Hi Alex - I'm not sure what you mean re: the wool. Will you be visiting farms? Canadian yarn stores carry many of the same brands American yarns stores carry, though we do have more Phildar yarns, and yarns from Canadian companies like Fleece Artist. If you're talking straight-up wool-from-the-sheep, I'm sure our sheep aren't any softer than sheep elsewhere. :) That said, road trips are *always* a good idea.
