My favourite kid-oriented music to listen to with Owen is an album nerd-rock band They Might Be Giants put out called Here Comes Science. My favourite song, by far, is Meet the Elements — this one song, alone, has me planning to make at least half a dozen crafty things for Owen's room. (No, I likely won't make them. Well, I do hope to do one wicked embroidery project.) Now why is it that until today it hadn't occurred to me to crochet any of those projects? I have no idea.

Check out the crocheted molecules by Flickr user primandplush that I discovered today via Knithacker! These fit very well with the chorus of that favourite science song: "[elements] either combine to make a chemical compound or stand alone as they are."

And my favourite, by far, Three Phases of Water:
Three Phases of Water

LOL! Brilliant! As a bit of a science geek myself, who spends all my time commuting working on my crochet, I must say thank you on two counts - first for the geeky rock band recommendation, and second for the awesome examples of crocheted science elements. Fantastic! I'm so excited about when my kids start chemistry. :-D

aussie_andrea: Right on! Also, I discovered today that in addition to the two kids' CDs I knew about (Here Comes Science and Here Come the 123s), they also have one called Here Come the ABCs. Woo hoo!

I LOVE TMBG! My kids (6 and 4) have watched all three DVDs  since they were big enough to move and my oldest loves the Science one. Do you happen to know where I might find the pattern for the Three Phases of Water? And by chance do you have a puppet pattern for the John(s)? I'm looking to make Christmas presents.

Thanks so much for your help!
