Tea Dyed Yarn Update

Jun 24, 2011
. Success! Well, so far. This morning, I removed the skeins from their tea bath, squeezed out the excess tea, rinsed them off in a bowl of warm water, squeezed out the rinse water, and laid them out to dry. The color should appear a bit lighter when dry, which should give me a really charming shade of ivory!
.

I'm rather delighted.

This could be habit-forming.

PS: As a point of interest, the mercerized cotton thread remains blazing white.

This is quite intriguing. I haven't tried dyeing yarns yet, but have done cotton and silk materials. Is there a mordant you could use for the wool, so the color doesn't fade? It would be fun to try this "sun tea" technique.
