I've been known to go into an antique shop and stare at a doily for what my husband describes as "longer than the person spent making it." So when I go visit my husband's aunt Betty at her ranch in Wyoming

re: Antique Crochet Spotlight

Hey soul sister, thanks for the beautiful photos. However, this brings up some ugly issues for me-will I live long enough to finish one embroidered towel with crocheted edging?

My grandmother used to crochet LOTS of doilies. They were all so beautiful. I just couldn't imagine the patience and time it took her to make them.

I have several patterns for a hexagon popcorn stitch motif bedspread with matching pillow. It's very beautiful, but oh so labor intensive. I wish I had the time and patience to make the hundreds of motifs; let alone the assembly of it. I believe there are 242 motifs (each 6" across) required for it.

I have several patterns from Family Circle, Workbasket and Woman's Day from the 1980s that have WONDERFUL lace bedspread/throws; the pictures are gorgeous.

In fact I have one that is almost the same as the one in your pictures.
