Krystella pieces Krystella

Can you believe that I have been crocheting for 15 years, and I have never made an anigurumi? I know, I can’t believe it either. If you haven’t explored the abilities of CrocetMe, I would suggest browsing through the pattern section. You can find anything from garments to scarves to bags to particularly adorable amigurumis.

Browsing through the patterns, I came across an adorable Baby Snow Dragon created by Marjorie. One thing I have recently discovered I love about amigurumis is that gauge is not essential. I stumbled across a partial ball of sock yarn shortly after discovering this pattern. The beautiful blue variegation just begged to be used. Piece by piece my little dragon started to come together. It was a bit like a puzzle, building each piece and finally fitting each piece together.

She’s almost finished. Another thing I’ve discovered about amigurumis is that they develop a history as they are created. My little dragon’s name is Krystella and she is an ice dragon. The variegation in the yarn is the camouflage utilized by many babies. I still have a few pieces to add, but I will be sure to share pictures when she is finished. Best wishes, Toni

Warning -- It's hard to stop once you start crocheting amigurumis! I have a wonderful collection that I began three years ago when my granddaughter was born. I have given some to her to take home, but have kept many at my house so she has "friends" to play with when she visits. I have made some clever little amig finger puppets, a "funny" bunny that she sleeps with, a crazy looking turkey with a beret, an elephant with a backpack, and many more. They sit in crocheted baskets on a low table in the family room so Hailey has easy access. Your ice dragon is charming -- looking forward to seeing more photos when she's finished.

Hi Toni,
I was wondering what yarn you were using in the photo of the sarong on another site--crochetgarden? I couldn't figure out how to ask you, that is, reply to your posting so am doing it here. It looks like reynolds saucy sport. Is i?

I love Krystella! Have you finished her yet? I'm almost done with a polar bear. I just need to embroider his eyes. He's lookin forward to seeing what his family looks like.

Tonia, no, I'm embarrassed to admit that Krystella looks the same as in this photograph. I was attempting to create wings and became frustrated and another project caught my eye. I just pulled her out again though about 3 days ago and I hope to have her completed next week. I'll post pictures when I do.
