There is a certain wonderful danger to working in the Interweave
building. I have read access to all of the samples of all of the
projects featured in the recent issues of Interweave Crochet, Interweave Knits, Knitscene,
and all of the special issues. They are often neatly folded on the
shelves right behind me.
The other day a flash of rose caught my
attention. A perfect little hat was peeking out of a basket, and it
perfectly matched my ensemble. I tried it on and fell in love. I simply
had to make one. It wasn't a pattern I recognized immediately so I asked
a friend if she was familiar with the project. She remembered the
project almost immediately. It was the Crocheted Bobble Beret by Robyn
Chachula from the Fall 2009 issue of Knitscene. And it was crocheted.
Wait? The hat was crocheted!
Sure enough, the ribbing is knitted but the majority of the hat is a
single crochet and bobble crochet pattern. I began the hat that day.
