Saturn Sweater

Try on this classic crochet cardigan as you go for a perfect fit. Finish with a contrasting buttonband and cunning stripes of surface crochet at the yoke and sleeves.

Finished Size: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52)” chest circumference. Garment shown measures 36″, modeled with 2″ negative ease.

Yarn: Filatura Di Crosa Zara DK (100% superwash merino; 136.5 yd [125 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): #1468 charcoal gray true (MC), 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) balls; #1921 rust (A), #1942 faded denim (B), # 1944 fawn brown (C), 1 ball each.

Hook Size: H/8 (5 mm), J/10 (6 mm; for embroidery only). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn needle; st markers (m); eight 11⁄16″ buttons.

Gauge: 14 sts and 11 rows= 4″ in hdc.

Row 5 of the Yoke should say to rep row 3 (not row 2).

SIZE (40, 52) ONLY: 
Rnd 19 (23): Ch 2, hdc in next 68 (84) sts, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 66 (85) sts] 2 times, turn (final st counts are the same).

Shape Hip 
Row 1: Move the * to just after the first Ch 2.
