How do you change yarn in the middle of a project and secure the ends of the yarn once you've chenged yarns?

Changing yarns in the middle of a project can be quite easy. Check out these blogs for pictures. They show working with 2 colors so you are working over the one yarn at a time, but you can use the color change method and just cut the old yarn. The first few stitches will be loose because the new yarn is not fastened to anything. After the project is finished you can just go back and weave in the loose ends. They should hold just fine.

I hold both yarns together and drop one color and YO with the new color.  Then I cut the dropped yarn leaving a 2" long tail.  I then crochet over the tail.
