i loved the summer issue. i am about to send a check for a 2 year subscription and i'm getting the idea that knit stuff with crochet embellishments" are in store. excuse me. i wanted to subscribe to a crochet magazine with style and clear instructions, as well as inspirational aspects. i caaan knit but don't because it is very difficult for me. now i am in a quandary. if these knit things are just examples of places to use crochet embellishments, that's fine. however, if they are knitting patterns it's a waste for me - unless go buy that book on how to transfer knitting patterns to crochet. i really don't have time for that. please - something encouraging from someone - i have to make a decision quickly. or miss the next issue. thanks.fredw
I purchased the first Interweave Crochet magazine that came out as a Special Issue in 2004 and have been a subscriber since the beginning. In the first few issues, there were more knitting/crochet projects, which I did not care for, but I stuck with it and for most of these past years the magazine has truly been a crochet magazine and an excellent one. I'm also disappointed by the large number of knitting/crochet projects in the new issue, but will not cancel my subscription. I'll instead hope that this will be a one time thing. I, also, can knit, but rarely do so, instead looking for a way to adapt to some form of crochet. It has to be really special for me to pull out needles.
I don't know if this helps you in making your decision. There is another thread going here - Why is there knitting in my normally fantastic crochet mag? - that you may want to look at. The comments there show that many prefer the magazine to stick with crochet and I'm sure the magazine's editors will see how important it is for their subscribers to count on Interweave Crochet to remain just that.

I'm not crazy about the combined knit/crochet patterns, but those are only a few of the patterns in the magazine. I don't think this is a normal thing, I've just been reading the magazine the last few issues, but this is the first I've seen that, I think. Interweave Crochet seems to run on one them per magazine. One magazine was all about shells, and shells in patterns, and the last one was all about lacy patterns, yes? I'm sure this is a one-shot thing. I still love the magazine.
With the subtitle "Defining Crochet," Crochet! magazine definitely deserves the exclamation point in its title. As the official magazine of the Crochet Guild of America, this jam-packed little volume covers a variety of styles & fashions including classic to modern & retro to funky. Also regular features such as "Quick-Stitch Sensations," "Retro Revisited" & "Not Your Ordinary Crochet" have been developed based on reader feedback so that you'll get the latest & best crochet tips & patterns. Published bimonthly in January, March, May, July, September & November.
