My church has a newborn ministry, so they are looking for ladies to crochet baby blankets to donate.

I don't always have a lot of time to crochet, so something I could do in a few evenings would be perfect for me.

Can anyone suggest an easy idea that wouldn't require following a pattern? I'd like a repetitive stitch or stitch sequence and something sort of lacy.

Thank you!

shell stitch is easy to follow and doesn't require a pattern - and looks lacy too - have a pattern that has a shell followed by a dc then a shell - turns out really pretty and the people I have made it for says that even when it is warmer weather it is good cause of the openings in the pattern. Hope that idea helps some!
