I just sent away for a hat form (haven't received it yet), anyone have advice for making my first needle felted hat?  Is it possible to use more than one type of fiber for one project: in other words, can I combine wool and alpaca roving?

Wouldn't it be more easier to use wet felting to make hat? In wet felting you also can use different yarns and materials. It is called nuno felting. If you will needle felt, then yes you can add different natural fibers. You can also try embroidery to sew on hat synthetic yarns and fabrics. Good luck!

Yes you can combine two types of fiber for needlefelting.   Can you blend them before you start?  Open them up and feather them together.  I can't use wool, allergy, but I do use llama and alpaca combined but I card them together.   Just don't wrap the roving around the form.   Hope you have at least a 8 multi needle.  Makes felting go fasteer.
