yarn for bathing suits

I was wondering what yarn or thread could be used to add trim to a stretchy bathing suit.  I am aware that once the thread or yarn gets wet, it can stretch/sag.  My main interest is to find something I can crochet that will stretch but keep its shape.  I thought about bathing suit fabric, but I don't know how I would cut it thin enough and straight enough for use as a trim.  Any suggestions?

My neighbor used to crochet bikinis for her granddaughters and used Luster Sheen by Red Heart. That could be a possibility but I would suggest trying a little first. Hope this is of some help. Hopefully someone else who has done bathing suits (I never have) may have another suggestion.

I have always found sock yarn works best for these projects. There are so many to choose from in all colors but solids are hard to find unless ordering online. Use a small needle and a single crochet as to not make suit so revealing if you know what I mean. Good Luck!

Thank you for your suggestions.  I will try both to see which works best..  Should you hear of any other options, don't hesitate to send them my way.
