How do you store your crocheted garments?
Most people do not know how to take care of hand(machine) knitted or crocheted garments. Hanging these things for a period of time is the worst that one can do to them. I feel dismayed every time I see a crocheted (or even machine knitted) garments hanging on a display rack in a department store. The sleeves of these garments are usually stretched out of proportion, the hangers created permanent dents or stretched the stitches out of shape completely. I wonder, how anyone can be enticed to buy such garments? As fiber artisans/artists, we need to educate people on how to take care of these things. Some, do not have appreciation for knitted or crocheted items, therefore, proper storage of a handmade (gift) item is not a priority but I think the majority of people do not realize that knitted or crocheted garments are not stored the same as garments made of fabrics.
I keep my crocheted accessories ( hats, scarfs shawl) in a large cotton fabric pouch to keep the dust off of them.
