Mary from Melbourne, Australia. I'm new here. But not new to crochet. Have been crocheting on and off for 30 something years...
Currently in the middle of two vests... One for myself and one for my teenage daughter. My vests are made using only granny squares and crochet stitches to keep it together. I have not made one seam. Just crocheted the whole thing. Am quite proud of myself and have to be honest, cannot justify using a sewers needle to attach crochet together., when I have a perfectly good crochet hook. Hee hee. Sorry it's just me. :D
Anyway cannot wait to share, once I have finished the shoulder straps. (Also crocheting together)
Would love to see your finished project. I tried making a granny square vest several months ago, but was not happy with how it was turning out and scrapped the whole project. Please post a picture when you finish.
Oh Thanks one craft... They're not turning out as I wanted them to, either but I digress.
I will post the pics. I have too, need all the constructive criticism I can get. Ha ha
Thanks again for replying to my post. :)
Mary, I'm new to the site as well, but have been crocheting for a several years. I'm impressed with you crocheting garments, that is one thing I have avoided like the plague! My tension is steady but my guage is always off by a couple of sizes in hooks so I have to keep doing swatches to get the right hook to get the right size swatch. I would love to see a picture of your work. I find great pleasure in seeing other people's work. Hardly anyone in my circle crochets or knits. Barby Sue
Be who you are and say what you mean.
Thanks kindly Barbiesue.
I'm not that crash hot at crochet but I try hard. I'll definitely post pics for sure.
Anyway am from Melbourne Australia.
Lovely to meet you. Would love to see some of your work as well. Post pics as well.
I'm not that great either, that is why I thought I would join the site, maybe I'll learn some new things. I have one picture of an afghan I made for my niece's baby girl, but I'll have to figure out how to post it on here. Haven't played around much on the site to know how to do that yet. Nice to meet you too. Look forward to chatting with you.
Yes, know what you mean. I have only posted the profile pic. Don't ask me how I did it, not really sure myself. Think I had a few go's at it and then on the third or fourth... Don't really know which one. It just worked. Think I changed the pixels. Making the pic smaller, it seemed to work. But don't know how to upload an album as such. I'll sort that out after I finish both mine and my teenage daughters vests. That way I'll have two pics to post.
LOL! Now I don't feel alone. I haven't figured out the profile picture yet but don't know what I would put anyway. I'm really liking this site, there are so many things to wonder through. I found the ebooks which is totally awsome! Hopefully I can learn some new stitches from the one book I down loaded. Yippee!
Hi Barbysue. See now your strengths my weeknesses. Ha ha. I haven't found the ebooks yet. ha ha.
What a pair we are. Ha ha
Oh, Oh, Oh.... I can help you with that one!!! If you go to the top of the page where it has the purple tabs mover your mouse arrow over the tap that says "FREE RESOURCES" and under it will drop down a menu with all sorts of thigns available and one is the eBooks. When you save them to your computer (I don't know how computer savy you are) but be aware where it is saving it as it wants to save it someplace you will never find it so be sure to look where it is going and so you can go back to it or save it where you want it to go.
Thanks so much Barbysue. Found them. You are a genious. :)
I definately would not go that far, I was playing around on the site and found them by accident. But I'm so happy I could help you out. I can't wait to get into the one on the different stitches. Just haven't had time to dig in to that one. If you down loaded that one let me know what you think, please.
I haven't downloaded any yet. Thought I might hold out and see what you are doing. Maybe, just maybe we can work on something together if you like. That would be fun. If you want we can work on one of the different stitches or whatever. I'm still in the middle of projects but I don't have a problem doing something small with you as practice between projects. If you want. It's just a suggestion. :D
That sounds like a great idea! I'll have to look through it and see what looks good (and not too hard). I'm not going to be home most of the day today, but when I get home tonight I'll take a look at it. I really like this idea.
So glad you like the idea. Thought I was being a bit pushy asking. But would be good to work with someone like minded. Most of my friends look at me like a freak when I tell them I like crochet. But they haven't seen how pretty the modern crochet is. Their loss. :)
Ok, something easy to start with. I'm not professional at any rate. My vests I've made are just granny squares attached with trebles for straps. So not fancy. I will post the pic in two days. I've finished my girl's vest but it will look better with buttons, so we'll buy them Saturday morning, put them on and then take the pics and upload them. Can't wait now. :)
Oh and I'm not fast at crochet either. Plus I work full time, so my time is short as well. So we can go at a slow pace if you like. :)
Very excited now.
