I was given this pattern from a friend.  I love the pattern but I am having a difficult time getting it to work out.  It is as if I am short two stitches all the time.  Does anyone know if there were corrections made to this pattern?

I've made this several times with no problems. To my knowledge there were no corrections needed. I might be able to simplify the repeats, etc. Email me at cat-ghans@sbcglobal.net and I will try to help you get it figured out.

I have a really old copy of the pattern, which came with a kit to a friend who has since died.  It doesn't say what size the yarn is, but with 314 chains, could it be sport weight?

The original kit came with Herrschner's 2-ply afghan yarn.

They still sell the 2-ply yarn  http://www.herrschners.com/Product/Herrschnersand174+2Ply+Afghan+Yarn.aspx

Did you contact Herrschners? I know they have technical advisors that can help you with their products.
