Good Evening fellow crocheters,  Is there anyone out there that crochets summer sweaters or tops that could tell me what ply or weight and type of yarn to purchase to avoid the top looking like winter wool?  Would a mercerized cotton #3 do the trick?  Bamboo?  Cheers to all and a premature thank you to any possible replies.  Sam

I love to crochet with mercerized cotton in the summer, and bamboo or linen are also great choices. I would choose a #3 or lighter weight as well. The most important thing will actually be your gauge. Try choosing a pattern that is lacy or has a lot of drape. That will keep your finished sweater from looking bulky.
