My first attempt at felting is gone bad. I have a swatch in boiling water for 30 minutes or more...and it has retained it's size, stitches and such. Nothing has changed, except the piece has gotten wet.

There is NO fabric look whatsoever. The double crochet stitches round and round still look very much like double crochet stitches, round and round.

I do not have my own washing machine, so I thought I'd try the boiling method I'd read about.

Sadly, I used two skeins of this 100% wool to make a hat with ear flaps for my daughter. It's oversized for me, so for my pre-teen daughter, it will only be a head sock.

HELP!

felting acrylic fibers!!!

I was looking online some tips on how to felt acrylic yarn and there's nothing!!!!! so being the self taught/ resourceful person that i am i decided to try my own felting technique and after trying different things, i finally came up with a very easy and fast felting technique!!!

*please note that a great felt will take longer.*

1. crochet a swatch

2. with a blow dryer heat the fabric for a few minutes

3. with a hair brush or a hard shoe brush (any brush with hard bristles will do) brush the swatch making sure to change direction every stroke.

4. brush and heat and brush again until the peace is done.

5. DONE! u created a very easy fast felted piece!!
