I really hate weaving in loose ends and will do anything to avoid it. With motifs, it is very easy to work in the beginning tail in the first round, just place it along/on top of your center ring and work over it. When adding a new ball of yarn, in most cases (doesn't work with really thin or thick yarn), again, just run your tails along the top of the work and crochet right over it.
