I would like to know why our posts in this forum show up on a Google search?? Just for the heck of it I googled my name and several listings came up as well as ALL my posts from this site. Now I suppose this one will show up as well.
Please advise.
I found how to inactivate this feature. Go to subscriptions and uncheck it.
I did not know that these posts would be public when I signed up.
Message boards, bulletin boards, forums like this are usually public. Anyone can read posts here. You have to be a member to start a new thread or to respond to a post, but viewing is public.
It is startling the first time you find yourself on Google. Which name did you Google? It must have been your screen name, quazeekat. Unless you post your real name and say, "I'm quazeekat," you are still anonymous.
I just Googled pauline3 and found a bunch of entries. Some from here, some are other people like an 18 year old in France. Anyway, I don't think the subscriptions feature has anything to do with it. I have it turned off. Google is just a little slow sometimes.
Pauline
Pauline is right (below): pretty much everything public on the internet will show up on Google. The subscriptions feature sends you an email when content you want to keep an eye on is updated or posted; it is unrelated to whether your posts will be indexed by Google.

mmmm Just for fun I googled my name....I had a good laugh at my own self. I knew that it was available, just had never seen it right there in front of me like that.
"Seven days without crochet makes one weak"
Wow, that really is quite creepy. I googled my screen name and it came up as the third entry...now I know, I shall definitely use a screen name whenever I post on a forum.
