Hi, I'm new to crochetme, but I'm devouring all of the info on a daily basis! I want to make a carrot stocking for my granddaughter which calls for #5 bulky ORANGE yarn. I have been all over the internet but can only find #4 orange yarn. There are other #5's in paprika, rust, cayenne, but nothing that looks like a carrot. I've also tried craft and rug yarn sites. Can any one help? Thanks!

Carrots wear stockings?

Sorry. How about using two strands of a thinner yarn? I'm not sure if 2 #4's = 1 #5. Let me Google...

Ah, here's a site, http://www.fibergypsy.com/common/yarnsize.shtml Below the chart she discusses using double strands. See the 'rule of thumb'. It seems two strands of worsted might substitute for one strand of bulky yarn. You'll have to swatch to be sure, of course.
