I keep my yarn (material) in a large plastic empty coffee container, preferably the large size. My yarn doesn't get caught like it did when I kept it in the bag. It really works too. One thought though, air the container if you don't want your project to smell like coffee.
Or large yoghurt pot with hole on lid and and yarn can come out like a ball of string.
Works perfect for string and would thing would be perfect for crochet.
There is a lady at our knitting and crochet group has her yarn in a large plastic sweetie jar you woudl get in a candy shop.
I am going to use a large plastic laundry tub when washing sachets are finished.
