This pattern has given me fits! I'm at the underarm joining and can't get any further. In the pattern,[I'm making size 36] Doris says to do rounds 1-8 finishing with rd. 2 and then to join [after doing fsc] into next corner ch 5 space, ch 5 & sc in 3rd dc of next shell. If I finish with rd 2, there isn't any 3rd dc to stitch in to and, if I read it right, she wants me to make rd 2 again which is impossible if I finish the beginning rounds with rd 2. I've tried finishing with rd 3 instead [which makes more sense] but then I'm confused as to wear to join the fsc. She says to skip 6 shells and go in to the ch 5 sp of next corner sh and that is confusing because that means I have to skip 8 shells instead of the 7 stated [to go into the ch 5 sp] and then it excludes the whole raglan shell on the joining side which doesn't look right since I'm coming off the middle of the first raglan shell [and when I go to do the arms I'll have half of one shell on one side and a whole one on the other]. What am I missing here????

I've spent hours and hours on this part and no matter which way I work it, it's wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have just come back to crocheting and have decided to start with the Sera Lace top to give to my daughter for Christmas.  However, I am having the same problem with the pattern that you describe above.   How did you solve the problem?  Thank you for any feedback you can provide.
