I have tried the pattern from the stitch and *** book 3 times now and its not going well.
ive ended up with a massive doily looking circle. it doesnt lay right when i fold it in half it just looks like a paper circle when you fold it in half.
i dont know what im doing wrong. im wondering if how i stitch i making a difference, but i cant find any reference on which is the correct way of stiching.
I have looked on youtube and this has made me more confused because they arent holding it the same>?!!!
So frustrated. Other patterns i try seem to come out fine but this hat has defeated me.
Which beanie? "The Happy Hooker" has a bunch of them.
Assuming you are starting at the top, you'll be increasing or adding stitches for a few inches and then you stop increasing for several more inches until you're done. If you are getting a nearly circular shape, rip back to where it's big enough around and then crochet without increasing until it fits down to or over your ears.
I hope that helps. Keep asking if it didn't.
Pauline
which of the 4 beanies?
happy hooker
its the boy beanie.
i will try your suggestion of ripping back so i havent wasted my time and yarn.
reading the pattern, it doesnt stop increasing until round 7 which makes it enormas.
thanks for your help, will let you know how i got on.
If it's enormous at round 7, then for your next beanie, take note of your gauge. It sounds like your stitches are larger than the pattern calls for. See page 34 of the book.
thanks pauline,
i think i stitch funny? ithink that is the only problem with learning froma book, you dont get to see if you are holding everything properly.
if only there were parents and grandparents and friends that all shared in the stiching and bitching!!!
thanks again,
my husband may have to wait a few mre months for his hat!!
