I am trying my hand for the first time to crochet a sweater. The pattern I am using is the Lion Brand free pattern Streamed lined sweater Jacket. I started with the sleeve and I am stuck. I need to start inc 1 stitch on each end of row. I know increasing is adding another stich but the stitch pattern is sc in each chain space ch1 when I inc do I sc ch1 sc in the same space or do I just put 2 sc in one space? Any help would be appreciated Thank you in advance!!!

That wasn't an easy pattern to find because the titles didn't match. It's at http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/878.html?noImages= for others who may want to give you some help.

A common name for that stitch is Granite Stitch, so I Googled for "granite stitch increase in crochet" and found an article here at Crochet Me! It says you're heading the right direction, but read for yourself, http://www.crochetme.com/Apr_May_2005/reads_waist2.html Google found a lot of other entries, too.

BTW, you may still have to experiment a bit because that is not a well written pattern. It doesn't give a schematic, so it's not immediately clear how wide the sleeve should be after you increase. Luckily, it implies a width where it tells you how far down from the shoulder to mark for sleeve placement.

Good luck.

I too am working on this sweater and cannot for the life of me figure out the finishing. I have e-mailed them but it still makes no sense I just cannot picture it and it doesn't seem to create the same sweater in the picture. Can you help me???
