So I'm making my won Halloween costumes, but i only have 14 rows of the back part of the sweater portion. No problem, I think I will finish it, except...HALLOWEEN IS NEXT WEEK!!! This is something i really want to do. I'm using Sports Weight Bernat Satin yarn and it's safe to say I've advanced past the beginner stage, but here's where my dilemma comes into play. I'm to use a basic stitch (sc,hdc,dc,trc) So far I've been using double crochet, but it's not the fastest. Should i use triple crochet? I want the fabric to look solid because Halloween will be by no means during picnic weather. Also, i'm wearing a white shirt under black yarn? i dont want the white to show at it will if i use trc. Sorry if i sound demanding but i need some opinions as im short on time.
I've seen some crochet shawls, admittedly not sweater-like garments, that look much more solid at the hem than at the shoulder even though the stitch patterns are the same. I think the weight of the shawl stretches the top stitches.
So... you might get away with trebles nearer the hem, but use sc or hdc nearer the shoulder, especially if you wear white under the sweater.
Or, how about lining it with an old black t-shirt? From a thrift store to save money.
Good luck. Stitch fast!!!
