So I am trying to crochet a hat following a pattern (for the first time) and I understand the directions but realizing CHECK YOUR GAUGE is important!! If I continue with the pattern, the hat with be gigantic. What should a girl do??
Change your hair style. I understand dreads need big hats.
Or, find a pattern that matches your gauge and make that hat instead!
Most conventionally, make gauge swatches with smaller and smaller hooks until you gauge matches the pattern.
Your hat might also be too small, so you could give that to someone with a little head.
