Sewing Amigurumi Parts together?

How do you attach the parts together?

A hook seems really clumsy; I've got half the eye ring sewed onto my owl that way and I'm wishing I'd attached the eyes before finishing the head. (I couldn't find safety eyes so I had to use felt in the middles.)

I can't find a needle to sew the amigurumi together. I looked at tapestry needles in Michaels and bought the biggest I could find, but it's not a large enough eye to thread yarn through. I though the point of the long ends was to leave enough to sew them together.

*sigh* Everytime I think I've figured something out, I hit the wall again.

There is something called a yarn needle (like a No. 16 needle if that helps) and it is usually sold over by the crochet hooks and knitting needles. It will be hard to get used to the threading but it works quite well. It should cost about $1.50 for five of them (extras never hurt). I hope this helps. You can also use embroidery thread if you want but it will not connect the parts as well but it will connect the felt eye just fine.

Thanks. I did use embroidery thread on the felt. I guess I'll have to go back to the store tomorrow night again. Feels like I am constantly running for something else. I hope this is the last thing I'm missing.
