adding crochet to fabric -- "how to" needed

I would like to add crochet trim to cotton fabric. How do I do this? I know how to sew.

Hi, the way I do it is to first stitch around the item by hand using the blanket stitch. Then I work into the blanket stitches and crochet the trim that I like. All the blanket stitch does is to form the base for you to work into. If you choose you can machine stitch down an edge then do the blanket stitch into that. Hope this helps
