I crochet for at least 3 hours a day nearly every day. I have fibromyalgia and crocheting with the TV on distracts me from my chronic pain. I show some of my stuff at craft bazaars in the fall and early winter. I've noticed that my FOs pick up the odor of the plastic storage boxes in which they are kept. How do you store your finished projects so that they remain fresh and dust free?

I've not had this problem, but to remove odors from the bin you could air out it outside before using, crumpled newspaper in the bin removes odors as well, keep changing paper till smell is gone. Charcoal, the type you grill, with works also and you can still cook with it. Maybe you could try another brand of bin or use the space bags that you vacuum the air out of.

Thanks for your input.....I'll try the airing outside and the newspaper. I've also been thinking of switching to cardboard boxes. But I'll try your ideas first.

I put a dryer sheet in each of my plastic bins-keeps everything smelling wonderful, even when you pull it out to work on it!

What do you mean yarn doesn't count as a medical expense? Crocheting is theraputic and helps me keep my sanity!

Personally I have a large cedar chest I store my FO's in. So everything smells like cedar! It's really nice.

But if you're using plastic bins, you could get a sachet of potpourri or baking soda and leave it in there. Baking soda is amazing for neutralizing odors. Or if you're worried about podwer getting on things, buy some of those odor absorbing shoe inserts. They're made to neutralize powerful foot odor so I'd think they might help with that plastic smell.

Best of luck!!
