I have a large project in mind that I have been trying to get round to do for a good few months now. I want to crochet a cardigan for me in luxury 4 ply. I'm sort of going to be making up the pattern as i go along but I can't find a yarn.

I bought a lovely alpaca and silk yarn on sale at a knitting show but the problem I have it that as soon as a crochet it it starts to shred. Almost all 4 ply yarns do this. The only yarn that holds together and is really good to crochet with is 'Mirasol Hacho' but I don't like any of their colour ways. I need a merino or alpaca or similar with a very firm twist that doesn't come apart when crocheted.

Any ideas please, preferable stuff available in the UK or easy to get on the internet.

Many thanks in advance
