Hey there! I'm Somer, but, as you can see, my username is SheMumbles. If you knew me in person, you'd understand...it's very aptly chosen...

I just joined this site and am so excited! I joined Crochetville a while back and then dropped off the face of the earth. I think this had to do with the fact that my work got crazy on the website blocking and I couldn't post any pictures and that was just no fun. But since then, I've gotten my own laptop and have decided to be better about taking pictures and managing said pictures. Hopefully I'll have a better track record here.

I've been crocheting for real for not quite a year, but taught myself about 2.5 years ago. So far I've done a few scarves, a bag (that turned out pretty darn good for a first attempt but coulda been better), some hats, a couple of blankets, and a couple of shawls. My last completed project was a shawl made with Lion Brand Romance that is the fluffiest, softest thing in the world and I love it! Right now I'm working on another of those shawls for a friend and a stuffed monkey (that may end up just being a bunch of unattached monkey parts if I can't figure out how to attach them when I'm done!).

ha ha @ the unattached monkey parts. That's too funny. I did that once too. I started an amagurumi doll for my daughter and it ended up in parts.....and stayed that way.

Use red yarn at all the detached ends and present it to your friend as a ghoulish monkey sacrifice. At least that's what I would do.

The greatest lesson I ever learned was 'stick with your strengths, work with your weaknesses'. If you can't attach limbs, then find something else to do with them, like a ghoulish monkey sacrifice!

See, I'm with you here. I cross stitch as well (well, I did until I discovered how much fun crocheting is!), but can't so AT ALL. However, my mom sews brilliantly, so when I made Christmas stockings, I sent the finished stitchery to her to actually turn into a stocking for me. Maybe she'll sew my monkey together...or, maybe the ghoulish sacrifice is a better idea!

If a ghoulish monkey sacrifice mirrors your personality then do that! Personalize your gifts as much as possible.
