hi all- I'm so excited about the new format here... what about me? well I'm sure my mom taught me as a kid, but it didn't stick. Mom is a fabulous knitter, but I just couldn't sit and be patient and learn. time passed, now I'm 36 and I have a 5 year old. Last winter I was finally ready to learn. Mom gave me a few knitting lessons, and a quick crochet lesson to make some hotpads, and I was hooked. obsessed really. I love knitting and crochet and have been looking for fun, interesting, modern crochet sites.

I love pattern magazines. (I'm a magazine junkie!) Besides the fabulous Interweave Crochet, any other crochet mags I need? I have a couple random issues of Crochet! and Crochet today, but I'd love to hear your advice. see ya around! MKZ

Hi! I'm a magazine junkie, too. you've listed the three that I read. I've found some crochet patterns in knitting mags, too, which I buy like crazy both for the occasional crochet and because I'm doing some knitting, too.

If you find some new magazines, please share!

Hi there, My Mom didn't teach me to crochet, in fact, she wants me to teach her. My Grandmother crocheted, but she passed away and I ended up teaching myself after finding some patterns in the Leisure Arts magazines that I was buying for cross stitch patterns. I cruise the net for free patterns all the time and I have just purchased my first copy of Interweave Crochet. What a great mag!

Thanks for the welcomes! Some of those Leisure Arts booklets are real treasures- I have a few for kitchen stuff and stitch patterns. I keep poking around for more!

Someone gave me some back issues of Annie's Attic booklets, but they are mostly for afghans which I don't really do many of.

I really like the use of charts in Crochet! mag. for some reason, I really get it when looking at the chart.

My neighbor and a young friend both want me to teach them to crochet- I'm not sure I'm qualified!! But I figure I'll get tips from everyone here- and of course, send them here for tips and patterns!

Nice to meet you!
