I hope this is an ok place to post this. I would post in the Finished Projects forum, but I don't have a picture to share...
I have this shawl I made recently using Lion Brand Romance that was so easy, but turned out so pretty. I have it at work because it gets so cold. One of my coworkers just came in and saw it and had to take it and show it off. THEN one of the people she had just shown it to called and wanted to know if I was willing to make one for her! Other than my friend who just wanted a scarf of any kind, I've never had anyone ooh and aah over anything I've made!
Sweet!
How great! You must be walking on air. Was it Half Moon or a similar name? I've had my eye on that pattern.
No, it's the Romantic Speed Hook Shawl. It was seriously so easy - nothing but a big single crochet triangle! The pattern was in one of the Lion Brand e-newsletters I received over the summer.
(Sometimes you have to register to even SEE these patterns.)
It looks so very cozy!
Maybe you could *teach* your co-worker how to make the shawl.
That's it! I made mine using the green, and I'm currently making one in pink. It *is* VERY cozy!
I want to become more familiar with yarn, in general, because I think this shawl would be gorgeous in a dove grey, but Lion Brand only makes this yarn in 4 colors. I don't know enough yet to make a good guess as to what other yarn I could use. I know, the best thing to do would be to take a sample in to my LYS and ask for suggestions, but there aren't any good yarn shops convenient to me in Houston - you'd think in a city as big as Houston, there would be more than a handful of yarn shops. I have a favorite, but it's a good 30 minute drive, and with my kids' busy schedules, it's really hard to find time to get there. I'm actually going to be near another one tomorrow that I haven't visited, so I may drag my kids in!
The Lion Brand site says Romance is super bulky and contains mohair. Yarndex is a handy site, http://www.yarndex.com/ Enter Super Bulky and Mohair in their search boxes and be prepared for WAY too many choices, LOL.
Thanks! I didn't know about yarndex!
I saw some yarn that was about the same bulk at my LYS today, but they didn't have the gray I'm hoping to find, either.
