Hello Everyone..Im just learning how to crochet and I am having a hard time understanding the pattern..Please help in the book it reads

Row 4: Ch 5(counts as first tr plus ch 1), turn;(tr,ch 1) twice in the same st,* cross sign (skip next hdc, tr in next hdc )3 times, skip next hdc, tr decrease,(skip next hdc, tr in next hdc)3 times, skip next hdc, (ch 1, tr) 3 times in next hdc cross sign,(tr,ch 1) 3 times in the next hdc; repeat from * 6 more then repeat from cross to cross once..

To me this translates to

ch 5 turn tr then ch 1 twice in the same st, skip next hdc, tr in each 3 times - so I would skip next hdc; tr in next hdc, skip hdc tr in next hdc, skip hdc tr in next hdc, then skip next hdc, ch 1, tr 3 more times in the hdc - so id do it 3 times in the same hdc? then tr, ch 1 3 times in each of the hdc?

can someone tell me if i am right?

I don't think so. I had to get hook and yarn to try out the original pattern and it's difficult, maybe impossible to follow from your short description.

Look for the description of "cross sign" and for "tr decrease" which should be explained earlier in the pattern. Make those stitches where the phrases appear. You seem to ignore them in your translation.

Also, be very careful of how you use commas when writing out the pattern. Missing or extra commas can totally change the pattern when someone else tries to read it.

Please ask again if this didn't help.
