Hello everyone,

I am a newbie and no matter how many of these sites I join there is still that fish-out-of-the-water thing that points me out to everyone, kinda like the tourist standing in the middle of the road with the telltale camera hanging from her neck and a dopey look on her face. What shall I tell you? I'm sure you don't want all that crap from the last 50+ yrs. Blech! I'm am beginning to stare down the big six-oh and not likin' it at all. In the 50s I first learned from my mother how to crochet just enuf to whet my addiction for almost all things handworked. My best skill is not one but it begins with knitting! I'm a beader, hardanger-er, xst-er, needlepointer, sewer, embroider-er and a competent enuf crocheter. I have worked just as many things at least once or twice, did my fair share of attempts and quickly deep sixed them; leatherwork fits the top of that list. I'm truly an unabashed addict. My stash is at record heights (we won't go there yet).

My sister is a beader and quilter, my other sister is normal and only collects turtles and we come to my mother. She is 84 and the most prolific tunisian crocheter that I know. She is computer illiterate and I'm. . .yep, addicted! She has a pretty impressive stash too. Rivals mine. How do I know? When I cast something out of my stash guess who benefits? I've told everyone I want to be buried in a big box full of my stash stuffed all around me, then cremated with it. I fully intend to take it with me! every strand! lol

So, when I say that my mother has done every tunisian pattern you can dig up, I ain't fibbin' sister! I have not had much success googgling my little pudgie pinkies but, finally, here I landed! My mother has nothing to do so I promised I'd find some really challenging goodies for her. I've only found 3 or 4! I'm so excited that I have found you all. I have also found a couple patterns that I know she will love. I know I do. But, horrors: I can't access the graphs. How do I access graphs when the link won't work in the pattern text? One is the Crayon Afghan and the other is all the graphs to that wonderful afghan the Apache Rose Peacock afghan. I would love if someone would explain how to access all the graphs. There are some very talented designers on this website and I'm looking forward to presenting entire kits to my mother with those patterns. These two, hopefully, I can get boxed and sent quickly. I've sent her a most beautiful round Cathedral Window which will keep her busy for maybe a little more than a week.

Thanks everyone for being here when I landed. It made the fall so much softer.

Hi Jan!

There is a tiny graph in the crayon pattern that you click on to get a larger graph, http://crochetme.com/2006-Summer/images/crayon_oval_chart.gif Is that what you wanted?

The Apache Rose pattern appears to be lost. That's the problem with patterns shown here, but only links to another site are given. Why bother? The other site vanishes and the pattern is lost. Grr.

I can't find the links for the apache rose peacock afghan pattern either. Is there any way to contact the admin about the broken links? Or even the designer and find out if there is an alternate site?
