hello from sw wisconsin! pretty new to this site so thought i'd say hi and try to get to know people. i've been crocheting for about 14 years off and on (mostly off). also, mostly self-taught. i know only a couple basic stitches and would like to learn more so i can do more things and make more projects like all the wonderful ones i see on the site here. the biggest reason i haven't done much is because when i look at a pattern i see all the different stitches needed and have no idea how to do them.

any help offered would be appreciated. and once i learn some more i'll be off and running with my own ideas and posting my own patterns and tips (i hope!).

one specific question i do have, i have a bunch of small squares i made that i would like to make into a large blanket. now i know the easiest way is to sew them together, but everytime i do that, they just seem to fall apart because of breakage (my boys are not gentle with anything!). i was wondering if anyone knew of a simple way to crochet them together instead of sewing.

thanks for any help! i am sssoooo glad to have found this site and look forward to making new friends and having fun.
