My husband bought me a couple of crochet books for christmas. I am not having too much trouble teaching myself how to do everything...but I am working on a bootie pattern and one section doesn't make sense. Can someone explain in English what this says for me to do?

Row 1: RS Facing, join B at corner of Instep, sc in corner of instep and in each ch of ch-4 sts, sc in corner of instep, turn. 6 sts

Rows 2-9: Ch 1 counts as first sc, skip first sc and scin each sc across, turn

I am only confused about what chain of chain-4 stiches means. That doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for any help or advice

'Tis a puzzle. Somewhere before Row 1, with a different color of yarn, perhaps color A, there must be a ch-4 to work into. If you can't find it in the instructions - it may be hidden in a longer chain that already has stitches worked into it - then the instructions may have a mistake. Sadly, mistakes often happen. Maybe you can figure out where the ch-4 *should* be, rip back, and fix it.

Good luck to you.

Sounds like in the previous row, the one you are joining the new color (B) to, there was a chain four which made the corner and they want you to join there, make a singlr crochet in join and then each of the chains from the previous rows chain four.
