Hello everyone! I can't believe it took me so long to think about looking for an online crochet community!
I have a question for everyone:
Do you prefer Traditional, Tunisian, or another crochet form?
I used to be a traditional, but have recently fallen in love with the quick and ease of Tunisian.
I learned tunisian from this website that has a bunch of videos: Tunisian Tutorials from Nexstitch
I look forward to meeting everyone, learning and sharing!

Hi there, Wicky!
Prefer? Hard to say, but I usually do traditional because there are more patterns for it. I like small projects.

I have tried tunisian but have yet to get bitten by it's bug. I think it is because I haven't done it enough and I still do it too tight!I do love how it looks like weaving when you use lots of colors. I have enjoyed doing filet crochet lately for ornamental pieces, but the vast array of stitches and patterns keep me going back to traditional.
mad for crochet!
I like Tunisian but enjoy the traditional the best, because of lack of patterns, and it uses more thread it seems to me.
I like crochet, and loom knitting with provo. I now have a picture of me on file. I hope soon to make a few pics of some things that I have made. I'm slow at computers, but I am learning. I have gotten a bit burned out here lately, but keep coming back to
I like both but adore the stitch patterns in Tunisian crochet. It's nice to be able to create things that look knitted or woven without the "loopiness" of crochet. My new book, "Tunisian Crochet: The Look of Knitting with the Ease of Crocheting" will be out in March or April 2009. I used many different stitch patterns and types of yarn for the 16 projects. Pix are on my website, www.SharonSilverman.com. I agree that NexStitch has great videos. Stitch Diva is also a good pattern source. I am still looking for a video of Tunisian crochet in the round (cylinder, not a flat circle), so if you find one please let me know. Happy crocheting!

Hi Crochet Sharon. Your website is impressive! I especially love your honeycomb skirt- really beautiful!Congrats on your book. It looks like a must have!!
Hi Sarah--
Thanks for your kind words about the Tunisian Crochet book. I appreciate you visiting my site. What projects are you working on?
I love that honeycomb skirt and wear it a lot. The stitches are anchored horizontally and vertically so the skirt does not "grow" or droop. It is a tight weave so no lining is required (anything I can do to avoid sewing is a plus!) although I do wear a short slip underneath. The construction is also very simple, just two rectangles and an elastic waistband. No elaborate shaping.
I'm working on some more skirt patterns now in regular and Tunisian crochet. The designs are long, short, mitered, draped, elasticized, zippered...
Happy crocheting!
