Hey everybody I am new around these parts and thought I would introduce myslef a little bit. I am an avid crocheter (even though I don't sell my creations yet I hope to one day). I learned from my grandmother and picked it up quickly and have been looing for new things to make ever since.

I guess the most interesting thing about my crochet is that I love to use patterns but I never follow them exactly. I start out good but then once I have a feel of what I am doing and aiming for I branch out on my own and alter the pattern to meet my needs. Hopefully I will be able to write my own patterns one day but I don't have the paticence for it right now...

Nice to meet you all and hope to share lots of hooking with you in the future.

Hi Boupie,

Glad you're here.

Your crocheting method sounds like mine - follow the pattern exactly until you understand it and then take off on your own. I'm on the second fingerless glove. They have more stitches around, to suit my larger hands, a different stitch, extended single crochet instead of half half double crochet because the designer's choice was too fussy and slow for me, and doubled yarn instead of worsted weight for the edging because, well I forget why so just because.

Follow your own instincts; it's the only way to hook.

I totally agree. I wish I could finish my fingerless gloves but right now I am a little obsessed with colorwork (I really want to make a fractal scarf). Maybe by next winter I will finish them. I am glad I am not the only one who does this though.

Fractal scarf, hmm, lots of branching or some other shapes? Sounds interesting.

I am thinking a combination of motifs that keep getting bigger and then get smaller again on the other side. The color repeat might be easier but this is going to take a long time to figure out but I am working on it.
