Hi everyone! I thought I'd introduce myself since I plan to use this place to its full advantage.

My name is Kristy, I just turned 21 and I've been crocheting since I was... well, for a while, but I haven't learned how to do anything outside of the plain old scarf or afghan since I haven't learned how to read patterns. I'm working on changing that but its been a little hard since I haven't found a good source yet.

I'd like to thank everyone for everything on this site! I've been browsing for a while and am amazed at all the patterns. I can't wait to try all of them!

Hello Kristy, and Welcome.


I just started learning how to read patterns about 3 months ago. So your not alone in the done it a while/simple stuff. the best place for patterns that I've found, aside from here is - crochetpatterncenteral.com and they are free as well. They also have video stitch tutorials that have helped me immensely.

Welcome!! Reading patterns takes a while....lots of concentration. But the payoff is nice. I know what you mean about making scarves & such. This year I am also stepping outside of the box & challenging myself. But remember to go slow & enjoy the learning process. Anyway...nice to meet you & I hope to see some of your projects in the future.

I love when there are video tutorials! Those always help me out too since I only learned how to crochet by watching my mom and grandma do it.

I finally got through my first pattern yesterday and made a hat but there is a lot more to it than I thought there was. The payoff was really nice like you said, I was so proud of it!

I hope that I'll have some projects to share once I get more confident in my pattern following skills.
